If the copy sits in the same room as the original data, a fire or theft can take out both at once. We apply a multiple-copy approach, with at least one off-site.
« How much data can I afford to lose, and how long can I stay down? »

« Is ransomware part of the scenario? »
A standard backup doesn't automatically protect against ransomware that also targets the backups themselves. Immutability changes that equation.
